Passive fire protection products

Passive fire protection products help keep fire and smoke inside a compartment by sealing the joints and service openings in fire-resisting walls and floors. They work without being switched on, so they have to be chosen and installed to match a tested system. This range is for installers, contractors and other trade users working on fire stopping, from service penetrations to movement joints.

Sealant, putty or wrap?

• Fire sealants for joints and penetration seals: Sikacryl 621 Fire 300ml, an acrylic fire-resistant sealant for interior joints and penetration sealing in walls and floors, and Sikasil 670 Fire 600ml, an elastic, neutral-curing silicone fire sealant for interior and exterior joints in walls and floors.
• Fire putty for small openings: SikaSeal 632 Fire Putty+, a hand-workable, silicone-based putty for small service openings around cables and insulated or uninsulated metal pipes, where a sealant cannot be applied to the required depth.
• Fire wrap for combustible pipes: SikaSeal 629 Fire Wrap+, a graphite-based intumescent wrap for walls and floors with combustible pipes. Sika names Sikacryl 621 among the products it can be combined with.

Check the tested system

Fire performance depends on the whole tested configuration: the product, the substrate, the opening and the services passing through it. Check the manufacturer’s data sheet and classification documents for your detail before you install, and follow your fire strategy and building control requirements.
